Weighing equipment for carp fishing

Weighing a carp requires scales and a suitable weigh sling. Choose scales by maximum capacity, reading increments and ease of taring; they may be digital or mechanical. A weighing tripod or weigh bar helps keep the assembly stable when the load is difficult to support with the arms.

Wet and weigh the empty sling first to set the tare. Place the fish inside, close zips or clips and lift only for the time required. The sling must support the full body and keep the fins against it. Check seams, handles and drainage before use, and return the fish to the unhooking mat between measurement and release.
