Terminal tackle for carp fishing

Build the hooklink around the rig you intend to fish. Hook, hooklink, swivel, lead clip, tubing or leader, anti-tangle parts, stops and bait accessories must use compatible sizes. Not every rig needs every component: each part should solve a specific task, such as preventing tangles, presenting the bait or allowing the lead to release when conditions require it.

The choice changes with lake-bed type, range, bait size and the presence of snags. Check hooklink strength and diameter, hook pattern and size, and the fit between swivel and clip. Needles, drills and stops must also match the bait so it does not split. A simple, tested rig with checked knots is preferable to one loaded with accessories that have no clear purpose.
