Ready-tied rigs are compared by hook pattern and size, hooklink material and strength, length, coating and included components. Check whether they include a swivel, quick-change swivel, ring, stop or sleeve, and whether the rig matches the intended bait.

A ready-tied rig saves time, but it does not ensure a suitable presentation over every type of bottom. Check the knot, the point and the position of each component before casting. Adjust length and stiffness to the bottom and the lead system, and confirm that the strength is compatible with the main line. Replace the rig if the material is frayed or the hook is bent.
