Landing nets for carp fishing

For a carp landing net, check the arm spread, mesh depth and softness, spreader block and handle length. A one-piece handle provides rigidity; a multi-section handle is easier to transport and can work at different distances. The opening should give the fish enough room without making the net difficult to move through the water.

Prepare the landing net before bringing the fish to the bank. Once netted, do not lift the fish by using the handle as a lever: hold the mesh and keep the weight supported. Then move it to a pre-wetted cradle or unhooking mat. If the net is used frequently, check whether replacement mesh and spreader blocks are available.
