Bobbins, swingers and bite indicators

A bobbin keeps contact with the line between reel and bite alarm and shows both line being taken and a drop-back bite. Hangers on chain or cord offer little resistance; swingers use a rigid arm to control the line in wind or under more tension. Fixed or adjustable weight should match range and fishing style.

Check the line clip so it holds the diameter in use without damage and releases it when required. The connection to the alarm or support and the available room on the rod pod also matter. Slack lines need sensitivity with little weight; wind, current or tight lines may require more control. Check the setting after positioning each rod.
